Soil Identification Practice

17 November 2018

Soil identification is one of the most interesting learning activities. As one of the curriculum materials, this activity aims to help students identify the pH level in soil. Soil identification is an important process because the pH levels affects plant growth. Advanced students performed soil examinations by taking the soil samples in the area of the farm. This activity was conducted in groups where soil samples are collected into plastic bags. Then they mixed the samples with water and let the samples rest for a couple of hours. The materials within the soil will then separate into clay, sand, and dust. This process will help them know what kind of soil they will be working with before planting.
